The Antarctic Peninsula!

Whilst safely docked in Puerto Williams, "Fin Del Mundo", six of our team took advantage of the location and went off adventuring in South America, Machu Pichu, the Amazon River, the Atacama Desert... leaving Jon and I behind to ready the boat for the next leg of our journey, Antarctica. Provision the boat, fuel up, small maintenance projects & clean; Ugly Betty was ready again.
We were lucky with our weather window and were able to cast off our lines two days after everyone arrived back. Our first stop (or drive by) was Cape Horn. After years of sailing, Bruce, Nora, Jon and I were excited for this, the pinnacle of most sailors' dreams. None of us much fancied a bashing, but of course, with incredible weather forecasting available, we were able to pass the notorious Cape Horn with ease.
Next was the Drake Passage, for us a 3 day sail until we reached the Antarctic Peninsula. Even with a good forecast, the weather changes quickly down there, but we were fortunate to have a smooth trip.
We spent the next 2 weeks climbing volcano's, watching whales bubble feed right next to the boat, making shore excursions to see the wild life, visiting old whaling stations, taking picture after picture of penguins, and enjoying the scenery. It truly is spectacular.
